Planting + caring = Good harvest

What we experience today results from what we have built in the past. In other words, we reap today what we sowed yesterday.

This truth may seem too simple, but it needs to be repeated because we often forget it. And it applies to all areas of life, including relationships.

How a relationship is cultivated reveals whether it will bear fruit or even blossom. The depth of a relationship is perceived in daily care, attention, and intentional investment. Healthy relationships do not happen by chance—they are built with dedication.

It is not easy because human beings are complex. But what makes the journey lighter is the absence of selfishness and the abundant presence of Christ. Relationships go beyond oneself; they walk with each other, share pains and victories, and grow side by side.

It is rejoicing with the other, even when they are in a better moment than you. It is learning to respect different opinions, recognize your mistakes, ask for forgiveness, and know how to forgive. A good relationship does not hide conflicts — it faces them with maturity and love.

Intimate relationships are a choice; if you want the relationship to last, there must be reciprocity on both sides.

The Word of God guides us on this. In 1 Peter 4:8, we read:

“Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.”

True love, the kind that comes from God, is the foundation of any lasting relationship. It is this love that heals, strengthens, and sustains. May we seek this kind of love in our relationships—a love that reflects the grace of Christ.

Questions for reflection:

1. What have you been planting in your relationships?

2. Have you been nurturing your relationships with care and truth?

3. Is there selfishness in your attitudes? Or has Christ been the center?

4. When was the last time you forgave—truly forgave?

5. Is there something that needs to be brought up, with maturity and love?
